Thanks Friend Alice for taking me to two libraries today in an attempt to increase inventory for 3B books. It looks like my expansion idea has failed, but you can be sure that when I discover a marketable idea that you will be asked to join. I may fail in ventures, but no one shall fail in venturing to invest in me.
honesty is the best policy for crappy liars
bought three books. Had the hardest time mentally opening wallet... each book cost like 5 bucks after shipping and taxes.
1. The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook: Travelers ~~ Thought it would give my paranoid mind some self-confidence in times of peril if I saw the worst case scenario... my situations can't be THAT bad...
2. The Road Within ~~ I'm a sucker for travel stories and this one comes highly rated.
3. Rick Steves' Europe Through the Back Door 2001 (Rick Steves' Europe Through the Back Door, 19th Ed) ~~ An older edition, but it's tips shouldn't have changed that much. My seller flooded the market and ruined the prices for this book, so I get a brand new book for like $1.45 ($5 after shipping)

Random fact of the day:
3B Books has shipped approximately 131.2 pounds of books in the last two months.

Friend Andy speaks...
Some of us experienced some serious identity crises in high school when we were faced with having to define ourselves on paper for the benefit of some strangers we would never meet. The promise of the future back then was always flush with opportunity, and being raised with the mantra that we could be anything we wanted to be, we were followers of the religion of our own indestructible futures. We could be anything we wanted to be.
But once you've walked infinity, you look back at the thousands of doors you could have opened and the hundreds of stones you left unturned. It's fucking depressing, I tell you. Why did I choose my major? Given three more years of wisdom, I could have chosen any number of things that would have brought me untold satisfaction. Live and learn? Screw that. I want to start over.
Youth is fleeting. It's slipping from you like sand between your fingers. But how dare I bitch about missing infinity when a child somewhere just wants to have some food to eat tonight? Let's not get mired in the past, shall we? Sometimes you just have to walk your path and realize you only have two feet.

I think the wallstreet journal is giving me ideas...
Thought of another way to increase book inventory for 3B Books. The jist is to go to libraries with bookstores and buy books to resell. I also found a way to sift out the valuable books from the crappy ones. Found three libraries in the area... gonna mine them california gold rush style!!~

I got an idea for UCI friends!!
The problem is that people find out that I'm selling books and ask me to sell their books as well. But when I refuse to take a commission, they balk. Since everyone feels bashfully embarassed about me selling their books for free, I decided that I should ask each of my friends to go gather 50 books from THEIR friends (ask 2-3 friends). So basically, I become a Costco and sell en masse.
so lets say u need to sell ur books. I would then sell ur books for free, and charge commission on the other 50 books u have from friends. That way, u won't feel bad AND you get to help out ur friends AND that way i can increase inventory so that i make more.
Your job would be to gather books from friends, give people their money when they sell.
And what doesn't sell, gets donated or returned to the proper owners. Since we are all friends and friends of friends, there is implict trust which will make it work.
**If you are interested, please say so.

Recent Action: Sent second half of deposit to Southwestern.
Recap: Cold feet about the prospects of law school started about 2 weeks ago. Over the last week, I have searched for alternative paths I could take and have realized that I accidently burned the bridges behind me. Other fields have other class requirements which would take way too long to fulfill and are not worth the cost. Back in the day, I figured I would just take the classes I needed and get out of college in drive-thru fashion. Traveling light saves time and cash. Doing this has ended up confining me to a narrow plan and put me in an interesting position. Pressing forward with law school.
Conclusion: Now it's time to be the best damned lawyer I can be. Must accept and find happiness in what I will be doing. Thanks for those who have been asking for updates.

Everytime a whale gets beached, all these eco-people make a big fuss and try to save it. Okay, once, I understand. But if the same whale gets beached three or four times, maybe it's a sign that the whale needs a good old fashioned darwining . Yes, yes, whales are endangered, but do we really want to keep its stupid ass whale genes in their gene pool? I mean, it might get lucky and hook up with a really, really drunk normal whale, and end up producing retarded little copies of itself! Oh the horror! [Imagines hundres of little retarded whales, beaching themselves...]
**Greek**
Of all the greek hereos, I think I like Theseus and Odysseus the most. Actually, Odysseus more. He does stupid stuff that remind me of myself. Like:
1) Making stupid decisions 'cuz of hot girl (i.e. pledging himself to defend Helen, and getting dragged on that little 20 year excursion to Troy)
2) Trying retarded things, and getting friends to protect him from himself (i.e. "Okay, guys, I know the sirens are evil, but I just gotta hear them! So here's what we're gonna do: We're gonna tie me to the mast, and the rest of you are gonna plug your ears. Then...")
3) Huberis (i.e. Yelling "see, Gods, I didn't need you! I brought down Troy!" And adding 10 years to his return trip...)
4) Coming up with retarded sounding, but workable ideas (i.e. "Okay guys, here's what we're gonna do: We're gonna tear down our ships and build a big-ass horse." [Other Greek kings 'n heros stare at Odysseus, thinking that he started smoking the whacky weed again])
But I hope I do end up like Odysseus in one way though: He got Penelope. Now she is a smart, beautiful, and loyal woman! (And this is in the "we don't respect wimmen" Greek era, too, so double points for Penelope!) I hope Lady Tsai is the same way. =)

The truly great man cannot be hacked down permanently.
Finished Autobio of Andrew Carnegie. Some tidbits I sifted for yall who have no time to read...
**Poor man's greatest asset is hardworking, caring parents.
**Work harder than everyone else
**Heroes important
**Never underestimate the ability of a person to affect a child
**What we feel most, we express least
**Who you hang out with is important
**We all make mistakes, don't be too hard on others when they do so too.
**"People deserving necessary assistance at critical periods in their career usually receive it. there are many splendid natures in the world-- men and women who are not only willing, but anxious to stretch forth a helping hand to those they know to be worthy. As a rule, those who show willingness to help themselves need not fear about obtaining help from others."
*Personal attention secures success.
*Build with quality
*Invest when young.
*"Every person that can, even at a sacrifice, make the voyage around the world should do so."
*"He that makes two blades of grass grow where one grows before is a public benefactor and lays the race under obligation,... it is fine to make something of nothing."
*"Many men can be trusted, but a few need watching."
*"A great business is seldom if ever built up, except on lines of the strictest integrity."
*Never put ur name to anything which you know you could not pay at maturity.
*Try to pay back favors with open generosity.
*"I believe the true road to preeminent success in any line is to make yourself master in that line. I have no faith in scattering one's resources... most business men whom I have known invest in bank shares and faraway enterprises, while the true gold mine lies right in their own factories."

Went to dental convention over weekend. I can get toothbrushes for like 60 cents (they cost like 4 bucks at albertsons), cheap brand name toothpaste, dental gum, floss, tooth whiteners... the works. We are talking Crest, trident, listerine, oral-b, etc. Just gotta find a market among college students. humm.... money in mind.
Doggie got fleas. Fish still alive when I got back to Irvine. Anyone can adopt my four fishies? I have to give them away-- apartment rules.
Thank you to those that read and comment... I no longer need faith that people are reading... I know.
In the past two days, my proposed future has changed half a dozen times between law and dentistry.
Must conquer self like humans before me have conquered nature. Must fight entropy.

Turmoil in the State of Abe. Issues remain unresolved.
Reasons to ditch law and go into dentistry...
1. Dentist solves pain
2. Family approval
3. Law sucks (laywers adversarial, and I don't like to fight, I'd rather work together)
4. Area of innovation (tech is slow in catching up in dentistry, and i'd like to be creative on the job)
5. Greater opportunity to own my own business (flexible time, making own decisions)
6. I'm interested in health (would rather read about the newest medical treatments in the wallstreet journal every day than about new legal precedents)
7. Family connections (dad's a dentist, mom knows people)

The "Concept for Cash" business seminar I went to yesterday made me feel young again as I sat there among grad students drinking in ideas. It was a good change from feeling old and graduated. Feeling old just makes me feel tired, then lazy, then useless, then tired again... Hearing people using their mind to solve real problems really lifted me out of a downward spiral. Energy in motion is what life is about.
Opened my eyes to a new world... the Science Library, headquarters of the State of Abe, Inc., Spring Quarter.
I'm reading andrew carnegie's autobiography now, and i came across a passage I think might interest you about Europe. Carnegie was one of the first multimillionares in corporate America, a financial titan who started out as a poor immigrant from Scotland.

This visit to europe proved most instructive. Up to this time I had known nothing of painting or scuplture, but it was not long before I could classify the works of the great painters. One may not at the time justly appreaciate the advantage he is receiving from examining the great masterpieces, but upon his return to America he will find unconsciously rejecting what before seemed truely beautifuljudging productions which come before him by a new standard. That which is truely great has so impressed itself upon him that what is false or pretentious proves no longer attractive.
... my visit to europe also gave me my first great treat in music.
... these visits to europe were also of great service in a commercial sense. One has to get out of the swirl of the great Republic to form a just estimate of the velocity with which it spins.

Cousin Andrew called out of the blue, wondering about where my career is going. Mom told him that I was going wild and considering dentistry instead of law. Great to talk to him, glad there is finally someone out there with my money beliefs. Still on the fence about law and dentistry tho.
Went to a Graduate School of Management seminar today... awesome. Concept to cash... about going from ideas to making money. I felt at home among the grad students. I even knew all the terms the speaker was using cuz of a few books I've been reading. Sigh, in another life I would consider business.
Dinner at Black Angus... food sucked, company great!! Good job Friend Sunsters.

Wayzgoose fundraiser didn't make money, but we did get an interesting tent that we can reuse. Other good things that made it worthwhile...
1. I took home four fish from our "go fish" game.
2. I bought four books for two bucks. They are about Napolean, history of glass, Hitler, and the 12 Ceasers.
3. Got the contact info of a lady interested in having us set up a fish game for an activity of her company. She offered 400 to 500 bucks per booth. We could put up 4-5 booths with different carnival games, then BANK. More on this later...
Any good ideas for fish names? I have one white one, one grey one, a big gold one and a smaller gold one.

What a small blueberry world we live in.
My answers to the questions of previous entry...
Appearence and Health
How important is fitness in your life? Very. Gotta be fit for budget travel and carry your own weight.
What's your favorite scent? Why do you like it? There is this pink soap, I think it's called lavender... it reminds me of the stuff we used to use in my dad's dental office. Fun times running around fiddling with dental equipment and supplies as latchkey kids.
Arts_and_Entertainment
Which TV family would you like to join? Friends.
What songs or artists put you in the mood? Artists....M2M, Vivaldi, Mozart, michelle branch, avril lavene. Songs...most movie themes, somewhere out there. In general, inspiration or praise songs are good.
Name one of your favorite books. Why do you like it? 20,000 leagues under the sea. Great imagination foretelling the coming of the submarine. Whatever we can dream we can make. White Fang was good too. On the surface it's all about a dog's life, on the whole it's about each of our lives. Great imagination rooted in reality once again.
Tell me some of your all-time favorite movies. Why do you like them? FORREST GUMP, what a full and eventful life. If someone that is viewed by society as "dumb" can achieve so much, what can the rest of us do? FAMILY MAN, the life that could have been. Would u marry the highschool sweetheart and live a indebted life, or book it to London and become fabulously wealthy? Well, if Tea Leoni were the wife, I'd go with number 1.
What celebrity would you want for president and why? Let's put the guy from West Wing in the White House. Sees to act better than the real one.
Family_and_Friends
How important is family to you? Describe your relationship with your family. Very important, very close. I also consider certain friends family as well. They are to live and die for. I work for their greater glory, they are the shareholders of the State of Abe, Inc.
How do your closest friends describe you? Quirky, odd duck, happy go lucky, optimistic, loud, extroverted.
Tell me a favorite childhood memory. In preschool, I forgot to bring shoes to class, started crying out of embarrassment. A girl named Erica got up, walked across the room, got me a kleenex and quietly sat with me. Some people really do care; and I've been looking for these type of people to fight for ever since. Geez, I wish I could find her now and tell her thanks!!~
How much do you tell your friends about what's going on in your life? 80% to friends. 95% to Abe Council.
What role do you play in your family? son, brother, investment, protector in training, heir to the throne.

oh my... I had another friend post another cynical idea of mine in their blog. Geez, i come up with 10 optimistic ideas for every one cynical one, and the cynical comments get the most news exposure. Goes to show the sad truth in the world that we live in. Sadness sells.
Thanks Friend Ellen for posting my thoughts in your blog. By doing so, I figure 100 more people saw it than otherwise would.

Talking to a fellow dispirited law school applicant...
Big BeeBee: so ur reason for going to law school is cuz there is nothing better out there?
Big BeeBee: what did u put in the essay then?
Big BeeBee: i had the hardest time with the essay
Big BeeBee: i guess i should have taken the hint
Big BeeBee: before sinking like 2000 bucks
Big BeeBee: i swear like half the time i just shake my head in the mirror
Big BeeBee: wondering what the hell i got myself into 3 years ago

Dorm friends for life.
Reunion today. Lots of chicken and chicken products courtesy of Albertsons. 20 people showed; I got addresses of them all so that I could send them postcards and keep in contact in the future.
I felt close to them, yet distant at the same time. No one has really drastically changed, characters remain the same, but I know they are different and that I am different. I want to know what's up, but I don't know how to ask. We each want to grow closer, but we each must have room to grow.
I would sacrifice to save each of them in danger, yet I really have only begun to understand them. These are my visceral feelings.
Four years ago we came together and reached critical mass, and now, as we all graduate in a big bang, we are shooting out into space to fulfill our own destinies.
Gawd I hope we have beef next reunion.

Overexpectant cost-cutting attempt fails, 3B Books continues on as before.
Dohs, the shipping coupon savings were offset by the service charges. Ended up lugging the books back back home; hella tired; should have tried one book and if it worked tried others. Arghies. Well, this just shows that the success of my money schemes are the exception rather than the rule. Good attempt, good experiment.

3B Books news:
I may have figured out a way to cut costs in my business further!! Basically, i found a whole bunch of $1 shipping coupons... that is like 50% savings!! so that raises possible profits... more on this later when I actually test it out.
Furthermore...
Big BeeBee: dude i just got like two orders
Big BeeBee: how the heck did that happen
Big BeeBee: business is good again
Big BeeBee: i don't get it
Big BeeBee: we are supposed to be in a general book buying slowdown
Big BeeBee: that's like 5 orders in 2 days
Big BeeBee: hell yeah, no complaints here!

Simulated Passion!!~
The next time I encounter a problem I cannot solve, I will donate $100 to charity. I will thus confront perceived impossibility.
**Note: Thanks Friend Gail; it was thru walking you thru your fears that inspired me to to confront my own.

I am traveling for all those that will never have a chance to see what I see. I shall bring europe to you.
When I walk off the plan in Heathrow Airport, London, I will have more money in my hands than my parents did when they immigrated to America 22 years ago. I will have more access to even more cash. I will have done extensive research of my landing zone, expedition routes, and sightseeing sites. Something about having all the advantages my parents didn't have back then makes me feel like I must succeed. How can you hear about great triumphs made by your kin and not think your destined for greatness as well? Success is within me as it must have been within my successful forefathers.
Each day I waver between the lines "Warning, the nation of Abe is failing" and "take your best shot [cuz you can't take me down!!]"
I can see myself being an entrepenuer who builds and markets a product that helps people solve problems in the future. Make money and help others.
Increased discrimination towards Muslims in America cuz of 9-11 and terrorism. It is only a matter of time until they go after Asians. We are not safe and perhaps finding safety thru knowledge of the law is more important than earning money at the moment. Three years of law school training is the answer, after that, I dunno.

At Science Library. First day I've attempted my 8am cram sessions-- came in at 9am. It's hard, and it's only gonna get harder, but I gotta push myself on this one. In the absence of challenges, we must make our own challenges to prevent physical atrophy and mental degeneration.
Investing requires faith in the future. You need faith? Go invest.

This phrase should be banned from humanity-- "I don't care"
This frantically panicky squirrel is going to turn 22 soon. Shedding another year, sinking further in sorrows. Moving too slow in life, haven't stored enough nuts for future winters. I don't get it. I fight day in and day out, and I'm still can't see remarkable improvement over the course of the year. I'm older, I'm wiser, but I'm not happier.
I see clouds in the horizon fast approaching, and though my plans for the future border on something dramatic like weather control, I'm still struggling to build a makeshift shelter which I hope to God will keep me temporarily safe from future storms.
I feel like I'm a gawddamn hamster wheel, and I need to find a way to get off it to gain some real distance in life. I'm not young. I don't have plenty of time.
Gotta find a way. Quickly now!! Quickly!~
I feel like that scene in the movie Fellowship of the Ring, Lord of Rings, when Aragon says to the others, "carry only what you need, from now on we travel light." The context-- they need to find their friends and save them from a horrible death of torture and agony from the Orcs. Time is limited and the enemy has an early start. So the crew swiftly gets a sense of direction, leave most of their supplies, and dash forward together in desperate honor.

What I do with people who totally piss me off by violating my standards of decency...
For now, my handling has been rather negative and a bit arrogant. But what alternative is there? My attitude has been:
FUCK YOU, u pass a threshold, I’m cutting off connections. Why? Because I have a whole bunch of people to save in this world... great things to get done. If you aren't smart enough to invest in me, your loss. The limits of time and money means I can't save everyone in life, and if ur gonna be an asshole, there is another person to take ur place that is worth saving.
I just completed another autobiography (Berlin Diaries), and there are people out there who have gone thru shiat 10000x worse than us. Open the daily paper, and I'm sure you will see that there are people going thru real trauma (not drama) at this very moment. To waste time thinking and talking about the wrongs of this and that person, just seems like a crime. It's sacrilegious. Let's get on with the business of life people.

Just finished Berlin Diaries 1940-1945, a book someone donated that I decided to flip thru. It was probably assigned for a history class or something, and I got swooned by the "national bestseller" blurb and the fawne picture of the author on the cover.
Berlin Diaries is the war diary of a woman living in Berlin during World War II. It's a story about WWII told from the perspective of someone who was inside Germany at the time. No USA propaganda here. This character reminded me of Rose from the movie Titanic. She went from living it up to fighting for survival. Also got some historical background about the places I'm going to visit this summer... the places that luckily survived Allied bombing. Not all Germans in the Nazi Reich were bad... good and bad Germans existed.
Like a lotus flower blooming out of a mucky pond, finishing these quickie books, is at least adding some color to the shades of blue and grey landscape this quarter has started off being. Song of the moment: Matchbox Twenty-- Unwell.

For those that claim that they have no regrets, YOU ARE A FUCKING LIAR. Everyone regrets. I plan to minimize my regret column in life, but I cannot eliminate it. It is my past regrets that prevent chickenassedness from striking twice.

Can't think out of the box. I follow simple rules, because those are the only ones I understand. But can't grasp how to throw away the ones that really don't matter.

Dance started, no one on dance floor, and I couldn't bring myself to gather enuf guts to open up dancefloor. Such a chickenass. What's the big deal? Gotta look stolid and dignified in front of friends and strangers? The friends should be able to understand and be proud to know me, the strangers are no one to me. Couldn't do it. Just couldn't.
Lady Wang is the female that doesn't know she is pretty.
feeling shot out of the sky. Campus Village semi-formal. Can't stand pda (public displays of affection); slowdances are the worsttttttttttttt... basically, I started drowning in a flood of romance. Usually, I'm good about it happening around me, but tonight I totally shutdown in the middle of the dancefloor. I guess my shielding was pre-weakened by graduation thoughts as more and more people talk about it this week. Think columbia space shuttle, what u saw was how I felt.
Energy evaporation. And thru it all, I was thinking, "u know what? lady wang wouldn't want me to be like this. If I were lady wang, I would want someone that makes me happy." When I'm down in self pity, I'm no help to no one. As abe, I've always believed my greatest power is to be able to help others around me. Today was double dip failure.
Something needs to happen within me. I have to be able to solve these issues on my own before lady wang shows up. Self-confidence, proven track record of getting things done, direction finding skills, and financial prowess-- these are things I need to gain before I can become lady wang compatible.

Sample of the email correspondence between the my fellow Europe46 travelers and I...
Hi XXXXXXX,
What about real estate? And I heard that average returns for stocks were about 10-13%. It seems that some people don't lose money even in bubble conditions... thinking of Warren Buffet. I'm not saying that we can become Buffet clones, but it can be done...
The time value of money seems like key theme in our finance class... the prof has mentioned it 3 times in the 3 lectures we've had. In sociology, the most important themes were that money equaled power and that ownership (of land, intellectual capital, banking, etc) were key in rising to the top. In polisci the theme was that networking carries the day more often than brains or brawn. College is awesome-- wish I could stay a bit longer to get some financial prowess.
Sorry about the hotel confusion. You living in new york does throw a different light into the event sceduling process. Good point. If I lived closer to london, I would reconsider my options too.
As for relaxation, I have some good news. Halfway thru the trip, we will be resting up for 3-4 days on mykonos, greece. There is an daytrip to the dinky island of Delos (extra charge for excursion, but as a finance major, it might interest you to know that Delos was like Fort Knox back in the day), but aside from that, it's allllllllll lounging.
Yeah, the first night of the trip IS confusing. Still haven't verified what's going to happen, but my agency seems to have the bases covered? I think the plan is to land at 11am, get over to the hotel, to check in at Royal National, then go play on our own. The next morning we go out and find our buses... go to Dover, then cross the Channel to get to Europe Proper. If I can coordinate things perfectly, everyone I have been talking to online will rendezvous at the same place&place so we can all go tripping together that first day. Think SWAT team performance.
Oh and I miscalculated in the other email... each night in the hotel is actually 59 bucks for a TWIN. The $49 price is for the TRIPLE. So this means that the total difference is about 50-70 bucks. The hotel will cost about 150-250 bucks more over the course of a week. Conclusion: Hotel is STILL better.
I didn't get the full itinerary, but I'm pretty much going to be rubber stamping all the optional excursions. My general breakdown for MY trip was $5000, yours will cost about $4000. Things included were...
*Eurp Adventurer Tour= $2649 (taxes added in, I got a $49 discount for booking early, dunno if u can get it)
*Plane ticket= $300-350 (mine was $625)
*Tour tip=$100
*Meals not included= 39x$10= $390
*excursions= $500??? (dunno, largest unknown in my calculations)
TOTAL: $3939.00
***Note: okay, so I didn't count anything for gifts or trinkets you may want to buy... so $61 left... that means you get to spend $1.56 on gifts per day).
My calculations for my trip will be different because I have to pay about $300 more in airfare, and I will be adding in the 7 day London trip... I'm including this part so you can kindly help me check my figures...
7 DAY LONDON
*hotel= $59 x7 days= $413
*meals= $5 x 3(meals per day) x 7 days= $105
*museum tickets $7 x7days= $49
*transportation= $3 per day x 7 days= $21
7DAY SUBTOTAL: $588
ABE'S TOTAL TRIP COSTS:
Eurp Adventurer= $3939
Extra airfare= $300
7 day london= $588
=$4827 (Abe's trip total), plus $173 extra for gifts/unaccounted expenses.
$5000.00

Got rejected from Emory. The sky darkens and rain begins to fall.
The Science Library is awesome. Regret #13454613, should have gotten up early to come to this sanctuary of studying earlier in my college career. UCI totally went all out in building this place. Should have taken advantage of it. Seems best in the mornings with the natural lighting. I admit because no one else studies at 8am here, I haven't done it either... I am a product of my surroundings. I bet if I went up to Berkeley and saw people studying there at 8am every day, I would do the same.
So I came up with an idea. Study group meets at the Science Library every day at 8am. If the Christians can pray at the flagpoles at 8am, if the accounting students can get to class at 8:30am to an 8am class, and if the bio students can wait outside the doors of the Science Library before it opens at 7:30am, THEN FUCK THAT, CUZ I CAN DO IT TOO. AND IF YOU WANT TO DO IT AND LEARN SOMETHING IN COLLEGE AND HAVE YOUR EVENINGS FREE, THEN JOIN ME. You can study whatever the hell you want, as long as it isn't me (okay, if ur applying for the Lady Wang position, you are the exception-- stare all you want). Ladies and Gentlemen, let's get some work done!!~

Can't get a job anymore. Who is going to hire someone for 3months? I wouldn't. So I'm focus firing on my Finances class and doing these three categories....
1.Eurp research
A) reading about eurp art history & guidebooks
B) shopping for digital camera
C) figuring out 7 day self-tripping in London itinerary
2. Reading Wallstreet Journal. Gotta know what's going on in the world I'm about to tour.
3. Pile of unread books....
A)personal books
1. Finance
2. Investing
3. Biographies/ autobios
4. Donated book drive textbooks which I kept cuz they are interesting
5. Novels

Some people just down me. When I talk to them, I just feel annoyed and subconsciously attempt to subdue or sideline them. They are not always bad people-- they just bring out the worst in me. Not sure why. Perhaps it is cuz they rub me the wrong way? Irreconcilable different attitudes I call it. Especially overly pessimistic people or people who go out of their way to be ignorant. Makes me want to charge at them and rip their thoughts apart.
Ironically, this pessimism and ignorance is probably my own. By defeating them, I defeat my own pessimistic and ignorant thoughts. Not sure how to correct this at the moment, so when I encounter these people, I tend to flee for both our sakes.

It is interesting how reputations usally tend to come before quality of writing. I bet if I were Bill Gates, Abe Lincoln, or even Adolf Hitler, my blog would be that much more interesting even if it contained the same things they do now.
To this day, if I see a coin on the ground higher than a penny in value, I take the time to pick it up. Why? Because multiple people in my life reinforced this behavior when I was a kid. I would enter casinos looking down on the floor for spare change and playing chips, and if I found one I would rush over and fetch it and turn it over to parents or family friends. That's all it took to make me happy... finding things of value and sharing them.
As an adult, I don't think I'm all that different. I still love to look for value where others don't look or can't look. Perhaps I got into sociology and polisci because I wanted to learn to different perspectives on life-- so that I could see and discover what others couldn't see.

Friend Chris saw "several white hairs" yesterday as I was bending down to pick up something. Shiat, gotta hurry things up in life... the aging process has begun, life cycle spinning.
For those that doubt the power of religion, I saw a group of 20something people having a morning prayer meeting in the chill morning at 8am at the school flagpole. Who the hell gets up this early?! Christians and accounting students. God and money have willed people to defy human nature of sleeping in.
Not being able to present myself to fawne females with personality may be a good thing. By eliminating all chances of getting hooked up, I have a natural defense from temptation and can focus on other things in life. Must be a design of Heavenly Intent.

I love the way my TA says, " okay, you got to get a chillllll pill." Go Seattle, Washington for producing a fawne batch of females who know their catch phrases. I love the way my former professor used to say, "hi there!" I *heart* NYC!!~
First book profits deposited into bank today($78.04). Inventory has shrunk to zero. Book orders picked up today (2 big ticket items), but projections becoming ever more grim. NEED NEW INCOME SOURCE.
I can conquer an entire european continent. I can level a row of trees with a single order. I force man to do good. But I cannot talk to cute gurls with great personalities and be myself.

Antonio Vivaldi: The Four Seasons, III--Presto (2min 56secs). And enemies of the State of Abe will crumble in my wake!~
pre-europe trip communication up, Managerial Economics class expectations fall (dropping it), energy level down (sleep deprivation and no time!), relations with Roommate Foolio hit rock bottom and silence prevails, relations with other roommates on the rise, ditigal camera shopping more interesting due to increased background knowledge, book orders slowed, job search failing, chores not done, paper not read, lots of good blogging by my fellow bloggers, dance this friday, need a couple tenants for summer and someone keeps tearing down my ads, need my freaking accounting and finance books!
Yall are welcome to ask for topic elaboration.

Gawd damn, the idiot things people do. I still can't believe people throw away perfectly good books, IN NEW CONDITION. I have stocked my to-read pile sky high in just the last week. Maybe I should go into the recycling business... I bet I can make a killing in second hand issues.
Having trouble saying no to Southwestern Law School, especially after reading Trailblazers. Yall know I'm the big bro protector type (having a little sister and Napolean stature complex doesn't help), and I get pissed off when the underdog gets kicked. With the law, I can have the power to kick the puppy-kickers. Southwestern IS a law school afterall, IS the closest law school, and if I get into the top 10%, it IS like going to a prestigious school. And I don't have a very good alternative plan... randomly working for a year doesn't cut it because I lose time and might not pursue graduate education after starting to work. I gotta tell them by tomorrow, and send them a $500 deposit. Unless is something really wow comes along, I now see this as an opportunity I can't pass up.
To all of yall, I might look cheery and happy-go-lucky, but there is turmoil within. Law school rejections taking their toil, as well as graduation, friendship issues, future work, book business micro-management, Oxford house management, role in Ambassadors, thusfar unsuccessful job searching, this and that to do... I know I am the luckiest man alive, that I have much to be grateful for, just feel like a deer caught in the headlights at the moment.

Officially, I have decided to leave the freezer where it is because it would be unfair to punish all for stupid actions of one. Personally, this means I will have to supress my pride and deal with the possibility that the rules I set down will be ignored. Furthermore, my trust is irrepairably damaged, and this is one of the few times I have ejected someone from my circle of friendship. Thank you to the members of the Abe Council who gave your thoughts on this issue.
I just read Trailblazing: The True Story of America's First Openly Gay Track Coach, by Eric Anderson. It is the most touching, awesomely powerful story I have read for a while... inspiring for gays and straights of all colors and sexes. I found it in the donation box, recognized the author as a UCI professor who I met on the China trip, and decided to read it before selling it. Well, it turns out I've been all wrong about him, and rather homophobic to boot. Just goes to show, once you get to know a person from a group you discriminate against, it's hard to keep discriminating. This book is a keeper.
*Should have taken his class.

Like to shop? I have the perfect job for you! I need a digital camera for Europe, but I don't know about the deals and criteria I should be looking for. Basically, I'm looking for something around $150-200, and then going to buy extra memory for an extra $100. The camera needs to be able to take about 600-800 pictures, be relatively easy to use, and print decent 4x6 pictures. By shopping for me, you are shopping for yourselves because the pictures really are for you. Pictures are the trophies and spoils of war that I bring home to you.

The weekend brings free time-- I save an hour each day cuz I don't have a paper to read. But today, I lost an hour by springing forward. Boooooooooooooooooooo
Decreasing online time, increasing reading time. Been getting excited of late and checking my email like every 30 min to see if orders have come in... it's become an unhealthy obsession.
When problems get solved, money gets made.

On a lighter note, Chris, Eric, and I went to play tennis... haven't played for about a year and a half. Good bonding, sore arms and feet.
I told my roommate (we will call him Foolio) not to put coke in freeze cuz it would pop… otherwise I would take it back home. He said it wouldn't because he wasn’t gonna put it in that long.
The next day, my other roommate Kevin opens the freezer, sees syrupy stuff in places, ends up cleaning up the freezer. Clearly, Foolio found the popped coke yesterday, tried to clean it up, but wasn't thorough enough. So I saw the damage, confronted Foolio about it, and he said it wasn’t him. I went downstairs, tasted the stuff, and spit it out. It was sweet; it was coke; and he is a fucking liar.
Confronted Foolio again with hard evidence, and he admitted it. I asked him what he would do in my place, he said he didn’t know. I left it at that.
Now I'm not sure what I should do. I meant my threat about taking back the freezer if it wasn’t taken care of because it is a privilege. But if I take home the freezer, all roommates suffer.
Two major problems here are disobeying my direct order and then lying about it. I’m not sure which is worse.
Also involved is that this is not the first time. I suspect this is the third time I have been lied to at least. In the past I let it go for the sake of keeping friendships. But if you can’t trust your roommates, who the hell can u trust? Sucks.

Noses were made to be licked.
I seriously think that if our friends worked together, we could come up with a money making idea. We don't even need that much investment capital either. Friends Justin and Wilson have proven that. Sadly, I think success will cause some to place business before friendship. But I still think it can be done...
Eric, Chris, and I (the lightweights of the house) moved the large fridge (it has been broken since last year) outside so that the trash people can come and pick it up. I consider it a miracle no one got hurt. Our neighbors heard the dolly wheels slam the concrete with loud thuds as we went down three steps, and I had to explain. Mosquitoes everywhere!! arghies!!! And I think they got tired of my roommate Dan and decided to get me!
Feeling increasingly distant from Ambassador Council. AC has been priority one since the beginning of the year. I'm going to downgrade it in my list of priorities. Probably make it 3 or 4, after maintaining business, finding job, and reading. AC is an area of diminishing returns in my life, I can continue to put in time, but I don't think I will make more friendships or help UCI more.
I joined AC mainly to make friendships and make UCI a better place than when I joined in. People don't have time to really bond though, our backgrounds are too diverse I guess. I've made a few friendships in the last two quarters, but I don't think I can make new ones with those that clearly don't have the time of day to do so. And it seems like more and more of the interns are half-assing the high school outreach program... people aren't coming in prepared, dress standards informal, superficial efforts to bond with high schoolers... we either build the best or not at all
I also feel underappreciated and taken advantage of because I tend to work my scedule and life around AC. Everyone knows that if no one does something, that I'll come to the rescue... it gets taxing. I get the feeling that everyone is out for their own good too... whether it is to get a recommendation or to put something on a resume or for class credit; and because I'm not in it for those reasons, they don't understand where I'm coming from.
Whenever I totally get frustrated, I think of Europe46. It is increasingly becoming a form of escape. Sigh. The friends I have made in AC I will not willing leave, and I consider them family to be protected and encouraged as my privelages allow. But my future in AC will be limited at best.

Accounting and Finance classes look interesting. Accounting at 8am seems like a really serious class, like everyone knows it is good for them (even if the subject matter may be dry) so they don't screw around. I came in late cuz I was running all over campus getting approval for a SHOUT book drive... I wouldn't be surprised if the packed room filled from the front end of the class. Seriously, what other class at UCI can be filled at 8am?! Anyway, I find the vocabulary and categorizations interesting... its the 100 something dollar books and roil me.
Americans are soooo freaking wasteful, and UC Irvine students are the worst!! My roommates and I had a great bonding night verbally bitchslapping UCI students.... how they throw away good furniture, books, lamps, hangers, drive SUVs.... If a college edu doesn't pay off, I'm going to dumpster dive for a living.
