Falling behind in europe research due to...

**searching for renters to fill summer spaces (babysitting fones and posting ads over campus tiring),
**school activities,
**3B Books packaging and shipping,
**pretrip europe correspondence and alliance communications.
europe pre-trip tour group is picking up on communication frequency and depth. 17 days till!!!~

Really bonded with Christina Woo tonight. Talked for 3.5 hrs tonight AFTER a 2hour Ambassador Council meeting. She is a 50 something 4th generation chinese american who works as a librarian and gardens and knits on the side. We talked about EVERYTHING. I find that I talk best to females 25+ years old.
Got my digital camera!! Olympus Camedia D-560 Zoom. 3B Books profits bought it!!~
went home this weekend. Mom went to Berkeley to visit Bon, so being home alone, my weekend activities were... deforesting and de-weeding our property, babysitting dog, and catching up on reading and journaling.

Finished Once and Future King. I highly recommend even tho it wanders at times. Good for the polisci majors who are considering questions of government and justice. The author suggested picking our governments by looking at the societies of animals like ants or geese. The way we settle justice these days (two lawyers battling it out) versus how they settled things back in the day (knights charging at each other in a joust) are actually very similar in terms of justice (person who can get the most skilled champion to fight for his/her cause wins regardless of right or wrong).

So finishing a book has historically meant that three books fill it's place... and this time, I have not failed to disappoint once again. Brought back three new books and another came in the mail...

Quarterlife Crisis... jacked this one from Bons. It's all about graduating and not knowing what to do. Yall know it's just like typical me to turn to books to solve probs.

Vocabulary... gotta boost this area... my roommate is busting out GRE vocab and it's shameful how I am getting out-spoken in this area. Can't have customers thinking i'm uncultured.

Prentice Hall Handbook for Writers... it's sad how I still don't know basic rules of writing. And in law school, they don't screw around... so I'm gonna try to get my basics late in the game.

My travelers' tales guides book arrived in the mail over the weekend. Pile it on!!~

Learned a new way to cut watermelon today. From Friend Pam, I also coined a saying to rejuvenate me in bad times...

Did anyone die today? No? Then it's not a bad day.
25 feedback!!!~ *uncorks champagne*
Mission defined.

I'm going to gather Might and channel the energy to produce Right... just like King Arthur.
My taste in women sucks.

3B Books posts mixed results...

Positive feedback credit rating increased to 23 feedback!!~ I broke 20, I broke 20!!~ This is good cuz then I sell my books at a premium because buyers will trust me.

Abe Friends' books continue to sell like hotcakes. Their combined dividends/profits in the last two weeks totaled $40.

Personal sales continue to decline due to lack of inventory. As a comparison, last month I sold 20 of my books. This month, I have sold 5.
Thank you new readers of my blog. Please leave comments so I know what u think!
I will not rest until I get the addresses from all Abe Friends before our college careers end and we return from whence we came.

A calling card will be sent as an invitation to keep in touch. Cards will be imported from Europe like fine European cars of course.

Thank you Friend Hana

Big BeeBee: i just had the greatest conversation
Big BeeBee: found an old friend from back in frosh year...
Big BeeBee: that was 4 years ago.
Big BeeBee: thought I lost her cuz we went different ways in life.

Big BeeBee: she had total access to my life, and she was one that I thought could really see my potential.
Big BeeBee: so yeah,
Big BeeBee: we were comparing notes
Big BeeBee: i was so blinded back in the day... Of course she knew what was up long before I did about the nature of u-know-who...

Big BeeBee: i got her addy
Big BeeBee: she is sooooooooo getting a wedding invite. Oh, postcard from eurp first, then wedding invite when Lady Wang approaches center stage 10 years from now.

Friend Chris thought of a capital idea that earns my stamp of approval...

I can buy one cent stamps from different countries to put on my postcards, then bring them back with me to mail. That way, yall will get stamps from many countries rather than one, and it will be cheaper for me to mail.

as read on Friend Justin's blog...
which one of our friends will be the happiest when we're all 40ish?
reading about Hitler, King Arthur, and the wsj. Oh the world of possibilities.

Did u know that one day we may get digi cam photos from vending machines like we do coke? Or that farmers use satellite imaging to make sure crops grow evenly and ripen for wine consistently?

I ate the best steak ever at the Ambasadors Council dinner party. My only qualms about it all was that I felt bad sitting next to a vegetarian and had trouble holding in the steak compliments. Sorry Friend Wilson, the omaha steak at ur x-mas party is shifted to a close second place cuz there was just too much competition!!~

I think everyone sees me as a quirky little boy with humor. Which is fine by me. We went to blockbuster today, and I was fascinated by the kids videos. My boyish charm shall never fade till death do us part.

Thanks Friends Alice and Parath for making a pit stop to pick me up... I came close to missing it all.

There were a lot of dedications to everyone, and through it all I felt the pangs of wanting to be a teacher for just a little bit cuz they do so much for society.... But I have become resolute that law is the answer for me, perhaps real estate law.
I got my 4 books in the mail! reading load increased by 40%!
As read on www.singleshare.com

Education. Owning stock makes the world of finance "real" to people who otherwise would have no occasion to open the business section of a newspaper. It provides an excellent introduction for any budding JP Morgan, John D Rockefeller or Donald Trump.

Pride of ownership. Many stockholders (especially children) have been heard to exclaim, whilst driving past a McDonald's or Wal-Mart "I own that one."

Friend Wilson made my day.
Does Lady Wang really expect me to shell out $2k+ for a diamond?! You got to be kidding me. Freaking materialistic society.

Waitlisted on Santa Clara. Geez, this was supposed to be an insurance school!!~ sigh.
The last 96 hours...

As I stood and watched the proverbial citadel of The State of Abe afire these last couple days, I was filled with a combination of fear, shock, and feelings of utter failure.

But today, I felt refreshed. Things aren't as bad as they are, I enjoy much popular support, I've gotten wayyyyyy more than my share of luck, and I have violated no morals. Challenges remain, but now I'm militiantly optimistic and fanatically charged.

"One cannot read very much in one day." -- as heard from Dr. Chen.
Recovered lost ground today, productivity post double digit gains...

Worst case scenario for travel-- I've been reading short clips of this book while standing in post office lines mailing books for sale. Dressing severed wounds, ridding leeches, and subduing camels, are now within my theoretical reach. If you think u are gonna fall upon bad luck, come and ride with me cuz the luckiest cricket alive shall save u!!~

Twelve Caesers-- wow, back in the olden days the emperors were mean arse biatchs. Assassination here, stab in the groin there, incest here, screwing little boys, raping wives of subordinates... to name a few abuses. You thought they were nasty and cruel in the movie Gladiator, read the book!!~ I had to remind myself of time context several times and that the Dark Ages after Romes fall resulted in worse abuses to keep reading... There was one that I did admire, however, and that was Titus (later deified). A future name for the heir of Wangs? Another thought; America is New Rome. I can't believe our justice system comes from the Romans... they were soooo arbitrary. Of course, I don't think we are that much better...

Did you know they have biking tours in Europe? If I could raise armies of cash, that's what I would do. Wait, what am i saying? I WILL raise armies of cash, and that is what I WILL do!!~ Anyone game?
in the paper today it says some irish kid figured out a new web browser. He was 16.

upshot: we need to move faster in life.

Outside pressures have stifled my groove. I don't know how I can regain confidence and find my way.
SCheng33: how's ur day?

Big BeeBee: kinda busy
Big BeeBee: it’s like a telethon here
Big BeeBee: just made lunch
Big BeeBee: printing ads
Big BeeBee: renters calling
Big BeeBee: gotta stay home
Big BeeBee: whole bunch of stuff to read
Big BeeBee: behind on reading
Big BeeBee: and on blogging
Big BeeBee: plus have to write essay
Big BeeBee: college is grrrrrrrrrrrrreat
Big BeeBee: oh my book business seems to have petered out
Big BeeBee: no new orders in 4 days
Big BeeBee: that’s not good

Abe gets materialistic once again, spent $47.70 to acquire four books...

Quibbles about paying the fone bills have been happening on and off for the entire year. Yesterday, they kinda reached a climax, and everyone went to bed kinda errrrrm. Well, today, I decided that it was unfair that the good guys who were responsible were picking up the tab continuously, so I unilaterally decided to give everyone a tax holiday and pay for all of it with the explaination:

I think it's unfair that by being good and responsible you are getting punished by paying the tab for all. Either everyone or no one should pay for it. Since you guys backed me in the contract re-signings and that was important to me, as a token of my appreciation, I'll pay the the basic charge till the end of ur stay (4 months).

This is one of the best $15 a month I've ever spent.
A commerical break!

**Friend Christine is selling a full sized fridge for 70 bucks (includes free shipping).

**Seeking one or two male students to share master room for $425 each person during summer session (June 15th to Sept 15th, 2003) 10 min walking from UCI, Shared large master bedroom & walk-in closet, Shared private bathroom, Cable modem & shared utilities, Free washer & drier privileges

**Two females looking for places to stay for summer session.
I find myself reluctant to make new friendships and improve secondary friendships. There is 3 weeks left of UCI for me; I feel like i'm subconsciously looking for college career closure. For now, there is not much to strive for; it is only a matter of wrapping things up around here and then sitting and waiting for the next adventure to begin.
Ugh. Voting day for ambassadors council. I hate choosing between good people. If I had it my way, I'd make it communistic and call everyone a president and everyone a member. Well, such is the way of things.
moms that get mad for you spending too much on them are cool.

taught an mba how to make macaroni and cheese tonight. New roommate seems openly willing to learn. Already bonding well into our housemates.

Saturday, May 10, 2003

48hrs...

To accomodate new roommate replacement, I moved stuff down. For a month before graduation, I am going to be sleeping on couch, with comp downstairs, and clothes in the broom closet. Basically it feels like i'm moving out... throwing this and that away, arranging this and that... Got a month before college ends officially. I feel flat-- like day old soda.

Of course, shiat happens in groups of 2 or more, so yeah, there is other stuff whirling around. See me for details.

Can all of yall Irviners help me find a $350 to $370 per person place walking distance from campus? 2 to 4 of my roommates need places to live. Please help me find good leases that will adopt these courteous, responsible, and loyal fellows. It would eliminate some strife from my life.

Thanks Friends Alice and Parath, movie was great!!~ X-men cool!

best lines in order of importance:

2. A god among insects.

This could have totally been written by me... but as Said on Friend Justin's blog...

Abe has an innate desire to protect people. In a similar fashion, I also have an innate desire. However, the instinct is to take care of people. It's part of what drives me to be a doctor - there's a sublime pleasure that can be derived from taking care of someone. And because of this, when looking at females romantically, I look for somebody who I can take care of.

Now granted, this doesn't mean that I'm looking for a dumb bimbo who would get darwined in 3 seconds if nobody took care of her. Lady Tsai's gotta be a reasonably compotent person. She's gotta be at least as smart as I am, if not more so. And she's gotta have a good heart. But the most important part is this: She's gotta seem a little helpless in my eyes. And I don't mean "damsil locked in the tower" type helpless; just a bit overwhelmed by life. She could be a little overworked, or a bit depressed, or have lower self esteem than she deserves. (Or a combination of all - which describes the typical female geek/nerd; I guess part of the reason why I'm attracted to nerdy girls.)

Strong wimmen don't need to be taken care of; and because of that, a lot of the appeal is lost. Call me a male chauvinist pig, I guess, 'cause I go for females to "rescue." Hell, she doesn't even hafta actually need me take care of her - she just needs to pretend that she does; I'm not too bright, and probablly will never catch on. I'm just a sucker for the damsel in (emotional/physical) distress.

I want to be able to do little nice things for her - like cook for her, draw her a nice warm bath, cuddle with her to comfort her. I'll be her (dorky) knight in shining armor - the one who protects her from the world; the one who spoiles her and treats her like a princess. I want her to be able to look into my eyes, and see that for that moment, she is why I'm here in this world.

Yeah, it's kinda weird. Laugh all you want, but I want my damsel in distress, darnit!

Message to Lady Tsai: to quote 70's rock band Cheap Trick, "I need you to need me." Oh, and our daughter is gonna get soooooo spoiled! (Not our son though; he's gonna hafta learn to suck it up and take it like a man.) =P

Exactly.

As jacked from Friend Justin's blog...

"It is by chance that we met, by choice that we became friends."

"One of the oldest human needs is having someone to wonder where you are, when you don't come home at night." -Margaret Mead

"A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are."

"If this is a crush, then I don't know if I could take the real thing if it happens." -Chasing Amy

As read in the Wallstreet Journal today...

the slum of Rio das Pedras is an urban utopia -- one of the few Brazilian shantytowns, or favelas, not tormented by drugs and drug-related violence. Children fly kites and play ball free from fear of ricocheting bullets. People sleep with doors unlocked and windows ajar. Even petty crime is rare.

"There's no better place to live. This is paradise," says Ms. Luna, a 43-year-old housekeeper. "We can put up with anything -- rats, floods, trash -- as long as we're spared drugs."

Behind that tranquility and order, however, is a dark secret: Residents believe that a shadowy organization of civilian vigilantes, comprised of off-duty and retired policemen as well as ordinary citizens, keeps the peace by meting out extrajudicial killings to drug dealers and other lawbreakers. Alleged militia murders provide an ironic sense of comfort in a city so inured to drug-related violence that extreme measures aren't considered extreme anymore.

People who live in Rio das Pedras are coy about talking openly of the informal "policia." But they condone the principle of selective violence against troublemakers for the sake of preserving community peace. "It's better to have this than violence against honest folks and innocent children," says Maria Jose, Ms. Luna's sister, a mother of four who has lived in the favela for 11 years. "The only people who die in Rio das Pedras are people who deserve to die."

3B Books division sets records, uplifts parent corporation State of Abe, Inc. (TSA)

Sold a $19 book today for a Friend Christie. Congratulations!! This is the highest single sale completed for a shareholder of TSA (previous record $17). Christie is also the first shareholder to benefit from 3B's expansion into Amazon.com. Aggressive pricing and micromanaging have slightly improved prospects.

Total dividend payments thusfar have amounted to $60 profit, averaging $10 per share/person. 12 books have been sold out of 30 posted (40%). CEO Abeness the Babeness cautions shareholders not to expect such optimistic hopes for future sales as results are not typical.

As personal sales sag (we sell about 34% of listings), CEO Abeness will continue to increase listings of friends in accordance with "friends fly free" policy. In the next five weeks, 3B will focus on outreach events and spread prosperity in orderly fashion.

Thank you all for those that have listened to my wild ideas, given me rides, gave me constructive suggestions-- you provide guts enough for this young chicken little to fly. Enjoy the spoils of victory.
Thank you for your concern and support citizens of the State of Abe. Regained much of lost confidence. More motivated to horde cash and power, now so steady decreases in AIM time will continue as I try to build mental weaponary for our mutual defenses. You are my guiding light in dark times, and I am your mirror in good times.

Sunday, May 04, 2003

I am decreasing my AIM time, starting May 4th. Two reasons.

1. Who is truly an Abe Friend? Uncertainty in light of recent betrayal makes me hesitant to invest time in others. If you love me, show me.

2. Must build up knowledge and defense capability to deter enemies of the State of Abe… Every moment I’m sitting on my ass being a bum, every morning I decide to sleep in, the evil people are gaining on me. The harder I work, the more likely that I’ll have the capability to provide a sanctuary for the citizens of the State of Abe. Less AIM time, more study time.

Becoming evil to stop evil.

sclubber80: Just cause they are a lot of bad people in the world won't make me change how I look at things or myself as I person.
sclubber80: The world needs people like you and me.

Big BeeBee: the other option
Big BeeBee: become evil and kill off all the evil people
Big BeeBee: then commit sucide
Big BeeBee: the world will see what evil carried to an extreme can do
Big BeeBee: and are deterred from acting evil
Big BeeBee: it will save at least one generation
Big BeeBee: look at hitler
Big BeeBee: i think he did more to save the world than ghandi

State of Abe faces threat of Armageddon

As a child I was picked on. I, therefore, made friendships and coordinated people to work together to pick on bullies. We ended up being so successful that sometimes I had to restrain my friends from overkilling enemies. Getting weak and/or nice people to work together to defeat evil has been my driving force since.

In college, however, it’s foreign type of warfare, and I feel like I’m fighting with a plastic sword—and I got Judas behind me promising that they will help me….

Today, I got sullied by the very people that I thought were on my side. Generally decent people, they acted against my interest, against community interests, and for their own gain. It’s raining in my heart. Remember in the movie Braveheart, when Wallace finds out he’s been betrayed and he just falls to the ground stunned and stares? That’s me.

Friend Jenny Wu put it best: When you put your trust and effort into some friendship, at the end, there is a disappointment.......that hurts the most!

I try to ignore the small selfish things people do. I try to promote teamwork, promote unity. I protect the weak, and punish aggressors. But lately, water is not sliding off this duck’s back—it’s sticking. I feel weighed down, like the evil, selfish people out there are winning and will survive to reproduce themselves. I feel like a dodo or passenger pigeon—the nice guys are getting slaughtered and driven to extinction. The nice people that I fight for will be slaughtered one by one and I will be helpless to save them.

But you know what? As cynically disappointed as I am, I actually feel motivated to work harder. Every moment I’m sitting on my ass being a bum, every morning I decide to sleep in, the evil people are gaining on me. The harder I work, the more likely that I’ll have the capability to provide a sanctuary for the citizens of the State of Abe.

It's the perfect day. The wonderful rain has gradually given way to sunshine. The air is fresh and the clouds fluffy. Gawd I luv SoCal.
The book business...

3B Books expands into Amazon.com allowing us to slightly profit from shipping fees and more publicity. First book sold yesterday generating $1.70 in cash.

Dividend yield increases as more Abe Friends benefit from courtesy postings and sellings.

Total earnings trailing south as inventory problems continue.

The reasons for success seem like the reason for failure when things go bad. When companies fail, everything that is out of the norm is pegged as a reason for failure. Humans seem biased in hindsight.
The line between success and failure is a thin one.
